Genie Harrison of Litt Estuar Harrison & Kitson LLP, and Tennie Pierce were interviewed on Insider Exclusive about racial harassment and retaliation at the Los Angeles Fire Department. Tennie, an African-American firefighter, was served spaghetti laced with dog food by his co-workers at Fire Station 5. Pierce brought suit after suffering retaliation for reporting the incident, which included verbal slurs, insults and derogatory remarks, threats, intimidation and being told he had to go back to work at Fire Station 5. The City of Los Angeles ultimately settled the case, agreeing to pay Tennie Pierce $1,430,000 (plus $60,000 back pay).
