Robert M. Kitson

Robert Kitson has been lead counsel in over two dozen jury trials in New York City and Los Angeles. His vast courtroom experience includes:

• Obtaining a $2.5 million judgment on behalf of a Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Captain who was retaliated against after he reported discrimination and harassment by higher-ups in the fire department (Lewis S. Bressler v. City of Los Angeles);
• Obtaining a $6.8 million judgment on behalf of an LAFD firefighter who was subjected to such extreme discrimination, harassment and retaliation that she was forced out of her job (Brenda Lee v. City of Los Angeles);
• Spending seven months in trial with Mr. Litt and Ms. Harrison in McClure v. City of Long Beach, resulting in a $22.5 million verdict;
• Obtaining full acquittals in a host of criminal trials, including homicides, "third-strike" violent felonies, and numerous others.

In addition to his trial experience, Mr. Kitson has briefed and argued cases before both the California Court of Appeal and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Mr. Kitson has instrumental in obtaining several excellent settlements on behalf of his clients, including:

• Pierce v. City of Los Angeles -- $1.490 million settlement of racial harassment and retaliation case on behalf of African-American firefighter;
• Confidential -- $1.2 million settlement of a case in which the Plaintiff was raped by an on-duty police officer after a DUI stop;
• Confidential -- $950,000 settlement of an unpaid overtime/missed meal and rest breaks class action.

Mr. Kitson is licensed to practice in both California and New York. He is a member of the California Employment Lawyers Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the New York State Bar Association.
